Gajar Ka Zarda

Recipe Ingredients

  • Rice½ kg
  • Sugar½ kg
  • Green cardamo6
  • Ghee½ cup
  • Carrots (peeled and grated)250 gm
  • Yogurt1 tbsp
  • Salt½ tsp
  • Almonds sliced2 tbsp
  • Pistachio sliced2 tbsp
  • Coconut sliced3 tbsp

Recipe Method

  1. Boil ½ kg rice with ½ tsp salt and water as required till tender, heat ½ cup ghee in a pan, add 6 crushed green cardamoms, ½ kg sugar and ½ cup water, cook till sugar is dissolved, add 1 tbsp yogurt, now add in boiled rice, cover and cook till sugar syrup nearly dries off, add 250gm grated carrots, mix well, cover and leave it on slow flame for 15 minutes. Remove in a platter garnish with 2 tbsp of each sliced almonds, pistachio and 3 tbsp sliced coconut.
